Ft. Lauderdale Garage Floor
In this project Jerry Sheehan of GF1 and One Day Floors of Sunrise Florida was brought in to cure this ailing Ft Lauderdale garage floor. As you can see the floor had a coating previously applied by an inexperienced contractor using an inferior coating.
The home is fairly new construction and a luxury
home in a prime neighborhood. Most people are not aware of the peculiarities of concrete and consider a garage floor like they would a wall. Just paint it. Wrong!

Concrete is an usual product. It is porous and breathes. It can expand and contract. Salts can work their way though a surface and break down the
molecular structure of a coating. Even quality epoxies fall victim to moisture pressure and alkalines in concrete.
“Pure Bred” Polyaspartics properly installed by a concrete coatingtechnician is the only solution. “Pure Bred” means undiluted. Only One Day Floors adheres to the true Bayer Formula. It may be more expensive than the “knockoffs” but it outperformsthem as well. The surface of the concrete must be ground down opening the pores, then tested to ensure the concrete is free of any contaminents that can act as bond breakers.

This is the One Day Floors basic system which required years of
Reasearch and Development. The systemhas been field tested by One Day Floors partners Doug Bannister and Joe and Jerry Sheehan. It is meangingful thatJerry’s company installs floors in Florida and Joe
installs in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area. These are two very different climactic regions yet the One Day Floors products perform flawlessly.
In the photos here you can see the failed Ft Lauderdale
garage floor coatings were ground revealing
theconcrete. Then the concrete was ground furtherbefore it was properly prepared. All cracks were properly filled with ODF Crack Fill then ground to a smooth level surface.
The Ft Lauderdale garage floor was resurfacedwith
3 coats of One Day Floors Polyaspatics including a
decorative chipapplication. Properly grinding the floor opens the concrete poresallowing the Polyaspartic to penetrate the concrete surface rather than sticking to the surface. This is one of the unusual features of One Day Floors Polyaspartics. Soaking or “wetting” into the concrete makes the Polyaspartic part of the concrete becoming not just a decorative finish but a moisture vapor barrier impervious to salts. The concrete will fail before the coating.
